One of the basic element, which link all of my works is the line. I am constantly looking for its diversity. I have been pondering upon the subject of the straight, perpendicular and zigzag line, of the outline one both even and uneven, the diagonal line as well as the curved and jagged line, both thick and thin. Also of the dashed and dotted line, the horizontal line, the wavy and parallel line, and the decorative line. Moreover, about the ones that create texture, patterns and shape when joined, the subject and subjectless line, the deformed, the grotesque line, the subtle, the light and heavy line, the bright line, the line of the horizon, the narrow and wide line, the subtle line, both the destructive and the edifying line, the continual line, the spiral line, the intermittent line, both the ending and neverending line The issue of the line remains open and is still a subject of true interest to me.
For me, primary figures such as the circle, square or triangle are extremely vital.

In 2001 I started working on a drawing cycle, which I have named “Czas” („Time”). Line is the main element that builds this work. I had to find a suitable form for it. I have been also searching for a matter, which would undergo changes of shapes and colours in space time.
In my previous works I have already broached the subject of time, however its periodicity, the successive phases of time lapse and rebirth were of my main interest. I have discovered this periodicity in nature. Now I have chosen the linear nature of time; Time’s continuity, flux and unpredictability. In the Heraklitus river„nothing happens twice” (W. Szymborska „Wołanie do Yeti”- „Calling out to Yeti”), you cannot stop nor turn back the time.
Each of us has his/her own inner „time”. I tend to intersperse my presence with my past, and at this moment, my time changes itself into two types of lines. One seems to be subtle, silken…stitch by stitch creating a lace structure of time. However in reality it is a solid, firm, and constant line, which is running towards the future. It is a time, which does not hurry…it grows slowly and spirals upwards like grains of a tree. The other line changes its constant structure into a dashed structure. It loses its sharpness, just like image from the past.
I handle time as a multi-layered plane. Everything represents a see-through fabric, full of signs, lines, dashes, dots, laces, and organic materials. Figures, which are legible in their essence, are wavy and soft, their contours crumble. My lines slip into lines which have already been put to shape by nature. I interweave them into one body…I’m walking across the track of this nature, but at the same time I am looking for my own paths.
I implement repetitions of forms in my works. Such have already appeared in my earlier works. The square and circle are still the basis of the composition
In my works from the „Time” cycle, I refer to the colours of nature. By means of colour I aim at seizing the process of the passing away of time, at showing the successive phases of the colour’s intensiveness fading, its crumbling, its tarnishing, its softening.

“Colours have great power. Each painter instinctively knows this. Colour expresses our inner state. Actually, with the line the situation is alike – the straight line, the wavy line, the zig zag line – how many emotional states they are able to express”. (H. Stażewski)
